Africa Seedling alliance  is a busy and vibrant place to work and there’s always room for volunteers to join us and help out.

Volunteer opportunities at Africa Seedling Alliance are extremely varied and involvement can range from a few days to a few months or longer or anything in between. All that we ask is that volunteers have an interest and desire in supporting the work of the Africa Seedling Alliance.

You will not only gain experience working with an NGO but also have an exciting time experiencing life in Uganda  – the ‘Pearl of Africa’.

 

Volunteers will be helping out with

  • Fundraising & Awareness: Participating in campaigns, raising funds, and acting as ambassadors to bring attention to  the activities of Africa seedling Alliance.

  • Project Implementation: Going to the field and participating in the field work activities of the alliance.

  • Community Engagement: Working directly with  community, offering personal support, and building community connections

  • Administrative Support: Helping with office work and  program coordination

  • Professional Skill Donation : Agriculture, Environment/Natural Resources Management, Forestry,, or IT experts offering specialized skills to save costs and enhance impact.

What do we offer?

  •  Induction and orientation

An introduction to Africa Seedling Alliance , our work and what to expect during your time with us. In-country orientation and information about the local area including meeting you at your accommodation on the first day.

  • Pre departure support

    Advice and support prior to departure including flight options, what to pack, local accommodation options and arranging airport transfers if required.

  • Advice and information in Uganda

Information during your time in Uganda including including things to do, places to visit and sightseeing/travelling. We also provide a 24 hour contact number of a Africa Seedling Allaince  staff member when in country.

  • Certificate of Appreciation

    You will receive a certificate of appreciation on completion of your time volunteering with us.

  • Costs of volunteering with us

Registration Fee of $200  which covers  all indirect costs services

Typical Programs

  • Short Stays (1-4 weeks): $700 per week

  • Medium Stays (4-8 weeks): $600 per week

  • Longer Stays (3 months): $500 per week

This fee caters for Accommodation , Meals( Local food) , In-country support, Orientation and training, Transportation( Airport pick up and in country transport)  and Administrative costs . 

What's Usually Not Included (Extra Costs)

  • Flights: Major cost; depends on origin.

  • Visa: ~$50-$80 for initial 3-month tourist visa (e-visa often required).

  • Vaccinations/Medical: Yellow Fever proof usually needed.

  • Travel Insurance: Essential.

  • Personal Spending: Souvenirs, extra activities, toiletries.

  • Visa Extensions: If staying longer than 3 months (approx. $150+). 

    Fundraising

    Although not compulsory, we also encourage all of our volunteers to fundraise some money at home before they come. Bringing a donation from friends and family back home to Uganda is unique in that you will immediately and directly see where that money is going. Donating money is one thing but to raise your own funds, physically bring it to Uganda  and see it being used first hand is a great way of leaving a lasting impact on the community.

  • African Village Tour  - An African Village Tour offers an authentic cultural immersion into the heart of traditional life. Visitors step away from the hustle of modern cities and experience the simplicity, warmth, and heritage of rural communities

  • Banana & Matoke Farming Tours – Understand Uganda’s staple crop cultivation and its cultural significance.

  • Homestays – Live with a Ugandan family to experience daily life and traditions firsthand.

  • Traditional Dance & Music Workshops – Learn Ugandan dances like Orunyege-Ntogoro Dance or Kiganda and play local instruments such as drums and adungu.

  • Cooking Classes – Discover how to prepare Ugandan dishes like matoke, luwombo, and rolex.

  • Wildlife & Conservation Learning- Visit the national parks like Murchison Falls National Park and experience the wildlife .
